The European Union threatened Monday to impose sanctions against Sudan "if the situation in the Darfur fails to improve."

"The EU is watching to see if in the upcoming weeks the Sudanese government moves to stop the fighting bloodshed," Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot told a news conference after a meeting here.
